Weekend Atlas Mountains Trip
The classic Casablanca hiking weekend: Day 1 take the 2h15 Al Boraq high-speed or standard train to Marrakech, afternoon in the medina. Day 2 a guided day hike to Imlil & Berber villages or the Ourika Valley waterfalls (45–60 minutes from Marrakech). Day 3 a second hike or return to Casablanca.
For a longer weekend, add a 2-day Mount Toubkal summit (Days 2–3) with an overnight at the refuge — a genuine 4,000 m achievement reachable from Casablanca in a long weekend.
Coastal Hikes Near Casablanca
Azemmour, 100 km southwest of Casablanca, has a quiet medina on the Oum er-Rbia river and easy coastal cliff walks. Oualidia, 170 km south, is a beautiful lagoon with cliff paths and oyster farms — a relaxed coastal day out.
Further south, Essaouira (3.5 hours) offers the classic Atlantic cliff-and-argan-forest walks. These are gentle, lower-level routes ideal for rest days.

The Al Boraq high-speed train runs Casablanca–Tangier via Kenitra; for Marrakech, the standard ONCF train is direct and comfortable. Flights Casablanca–Marrakech are short but rarely worth it given the good rail link.
