South Morocco is a real hiking destination — not a generic category. Where the High Atlas falls away and the land tilts toward the Sahara, the landscape changes completely: date-palm oases threaded by irrigation channels, earthen kasbahs the colour of the earth around them, Amazigh (Berber) villages whose rhythms are still set by water and season, and the volcanic wildness of Jbel Saghro rising between the mountains and the desert.
Our South Morocco hiking section is built around Nkob as the main starting point. Nkob sits in the Draa Valley region of Zagora Province, on the edge of the Jbel Saghro massif — a genuine gateway to oasis walking, village culture and mountain day hikes that most visitors to Morocco never reach.
These are guided experiences, not simply routes. When you book a South Morocco hike you are booking time with a local hiking guide who knows the oasis paths, the village families, the geology of the volcanic massif and the best way to read the desert-edge light. Walking, landscape, local culture, Amazigh heritage, local knowledge, nature and geology are woven together — with food and culture included where they genuinely form part of the day.

October to April is the season for most South Morocco routes — warm, clear days and cold desert nights. Summer is dangerously hot in the pre-Sahara. Jbel Saghro is at its best in winter, when the High Atlas holds deep snow.
